Merry Christmas from the Puyallup Winter Wonderland. After many years of wishing we finally got our White Christmas. I took some pictures from around the house so you can get the effect. The sun even came out for a while which just added to the beautiful Christmas setting. The rest of the pictures are Marlena, Ryan, Marcilyn and I opening presents this morning. It is wonderful to have Ryan and Marcilyn with us for Christmas this year as Marcilyn was in London and Ryan on this mission in Ogden Utah. We are having a lot of fun with them. Of course I am in Aloha Christmas mode. We miss everyone who is not here and all the sweet grand children but it has been fun to talk to everyone today. Love to all and to all a Merry Christmas!!

I like how McCain keeps harping on Obama for raising taxes. Really? Really?

And depending on what kind of small business you own, or are starting one candidate will benefit you, while the other will hurt you.

It looks like McCain's claim that Obama is raising taxes is crap for most americans. It is true that there are some tax breaks that Obama will allow to exprire, such as estate tax, but for most americans there is a larger income tax break.

I really hate how both will make the others plans look completely idiotic when neither is amazing and are't as different as they would like us to believe.

Don't worry, this is my last political blog. I just can help myself .... Sorry .... Sorry.

We had a little birthday party for Jeffrey tonight. It was just a small celebration with Dave's brother and his family. He didn't eat much of the cupcake, mostly it just got smashed, but we just couldn't let the event go by without a proper Mann family birthday party -poster, cake, and all. Happy Birthday Jeffy.

Picking up Ryan From His MIssion

Well this blog is all out of order since I can't seem to be able to move thngs around. So the last pictures I import end up at the top completely out of order. So you will have to read from the bottom of the blog and up for the right order So....After touring Ryan's mission we went to Provo and visited Grant and Brit. We are pictured here outside Mimi's where we had lunch and Ryan was also visit with Lonnie who he met before the mission and wrote him. And then you can see us arriving at the airport and havng Evan and Heather with Conner and Orion and Camila with Owen and Sullivan greeting us there. Ryan met Sullivan, Orion and Owen for the first time.

Our first day we went up to Logan and met up with a wonderful group of missionaries in the Logan Tabernacle . We were also able to attend a session in the Logan Temple. Later that day we met with Pres and Sister Joyce. We cannot tell you how much Pres and Sis Joyce expressed their deep love and appreciation for Ryan. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a very fine restaurant that evening and were invited to stay at the mission home that night. We had such a wonderful visit with the Joyces.

The next day we visited a couple areas where Ryan served. We had a great time visiting people in the town of Garland. He is pictured here with the McKee family. Bro McKee served as Ward Mission Leader and worked with Ryan while he served there. Again, it was so wonderful to hear the expressions of gratitude for the work that Ryan had done there.

Here is Marlena and I when we first saw Ryan as we picked him up from the mission office in Ogden.

We had a wonderful trip and it was great to be a part of Ryans completion of a very successful mission.

He has defied the camcorder, but I saw it with my own eyes. The kid crawls. So he doesn't seem to like it, but has found that to get places it can be useful, but still prefers screaming at us until we pick him up so he can take a ride ..... but he crawls.

A Christmas to Remember 2007 - The Grandchildren

Of course the real story of this Christmas to Remember 2007 was having all our grandchildren with us this year. We remember Ruby singing her wonderful Christmas song at our Sunday sing-a-long and course riding horses with Nana. Conner Dean's total excitement for Christmas from his Christmas stocking to his new bike. Sullivan and his new riding horse of course named Gunney and his Cody Maverick bear. The wonderful happiness of little Orion as seen as he is peering out from his pack. He was like that all the time. Little Jeffrey David and his getting to know everyone and showing his wonderful smile. And for his first Christmas little Owen Dean slept and stretched and started to smile at his Mommy. These liitle ones have made this a wonderful Christmas to remember.

This is my second post for Saturday, December 29, 2007. I have included a short video of Nana and Ruby riding Gunny together. They had great fun. Afterwards we went to Northwest Trek and saw all the North American wild animals including this elk that was right up by the tram we were in. I thought we had a great group picture while at the park but my camera ran out of battery so I lost it. We also stopped by the famous bakery in Eatonville and had treats before heading home. Later Grant and Brittany left to visit her family in Vancouver, Washington. Again we hated to see them go and have had such a nice visit with them. They were truly a part of making this a Christmas to remember. All the little cousins love their Uncle Grant and Brittany has been so fun to have here for the holidays.

Today the big event was a hike to the Mashell River just south of Eatonville. Grant, Evan with Conner and Orion, and Jason with Sullivan went on the hike. It rained most of the time but we were dressed for it and had a great time. Grant bought the hot chocolate and I brought the caramel corn for goodies. We also stopped at the famous bakery in Eatonville on the way home. --DAD

December 26th of a Christmas to Remember

Today we all went for a ride on the Point Defiance ferry to Vashon Island followed by dinner at the Spaghetti Factory and then on to Zoolights. You can appreciate what it takes to move around with 9 adults and 6 grandchildren. One of the highligts was Nana and Pop Pop to have our picture taken with all six of the grand children while we wer riding the ferry. Conner, Ruby and Sullivan had a great time running up and down the deck. Zoolights was beautiful but it was a very cold evening.

Carrying on the Christmas Tamale Tradition

Christmas 2007 carried on the tradition of the Christmas Tamales. Jennifer, Camila and I made up two big batches of Christmas tamales on Christmas eve and they turned out great. We have shared several plates full with friends and enjoyed them as a family over the holiday. We have even started a tamale exchage with our good friends the Owens. Here you will see Jennifer and I with all the fixings putting the tamales together for steaming. This is a tradition the comes from Marlena and I serving our missions in Mexico. Nana and Pop Pop are entering an entire a new technological phase with this first blog entry with the picture of our beautiful 2007 Christmas tree. This was take on Sunday evening, December 23, 2007 just after our Sunday dinner and before our evening sing-a-long. Today has been memorable as today little Owen Dean Anderson was blessed in Sacrament meeting. Jason gave him a wonderful blessing and later in the meeting Camila sang "No Golden Carriage" which she sang beautifully and which touched our hearts. We are grateful for Grant and Brittany's and Dave and Jen's safe arrival yesterday evening. All of our six grandchildren are here with us making this a Christmas to remember.

Yeah!!! He's finally here. Our little family is growing. Sullivan loves his baby brother. Every time he sees him, he lets out a little giggle. It's so sweet to see him be a big brother. He weighed in at 7lbs. 9oz., and was 20 inches long. We love him!

Evan sent out an invitation for pictures of the mouse. This is one of the several self done photos shoots we did. Marcilyn and I always laugh about how un-photogenic we are so occasionally we will try and take a picture. Most of the time we just end up laughing and the pictures are not amazing. Balloon Fiesta

Last week was Balloon Fiesta. It was a wonderful week of seeing tons of balloons up in the sky every morning. This is our third year, but it's still amazing to see. I have never seen this many balloons in one place anywhere else. It's really a lot of fun. We were in a parking lot behind the balloon fiesta park so sorry about the power lines in the pictures.

So, Sully and Conner have become really good friends, and they play so well together. Sullivan gets sooo excited when we tell him Conners coming over. A couple of days ago I was on the phone and I saw Ruby rummaging through the hall closet. I didn't see what she was doing until I got off of the phone. I died laughing when I saw her dressed like this. It is purely a Ruby creation. I thought it really captured the change in seasons. In case you can't tell, it's a swimsuit and skirt with all of her snow stuff added. It's sort of a goodbye summer hello winter kind of outfit.

Yesterday was Ruby's last day with her favorite teacher Ms. Nicole or as
Ruby calls her "Ms. Cacole" Ruby is in the accelerated class and is
starting to learn a lot of great stuff. Her favorite is jumping to the
higher bar on the uneven bars and yesterday she did a front roll on the
balance beam. All with help and supervision from Ms. Nicole of course.
She is a very athletic little princess and we love watching her develop
new skills. If only she could just learn to look at the camera when I
take a picture, that would be great!

We put together our own family blog, so you can all go and check that out. Since no one else is posting I feel like I should. I am one of those people that when there is a long awkward pause in the conversation, I feel like I need to fill it up. The Southwest Godsey Clan is enjoying the lazy days of summer. We got out the little pool today and Roo and JD got in to cool off. Ruby, ever the daredevil (prodded on by Mom), got the slide and put it into the pool and was sliding down into the water. Then she started naming the moves. She dubbed the tummy slide "the Dookal" So I said to her "nice Dookal" She told me not to call it that and so naturally I was puzzled and asked why. She informed me that I needed to call it the "Princess Dookal" Ah yes, of course. We wouldn't want to call it just plain old Dookal. We gotta pretty it up and call it the Princess Dookal. I stand corrected by the head Princess of the Princess Police.

Alright, I don't have cute children to post on this website, but I am still pretty cute right? This last Friday I went to a costume party at my friend Michael and Elenor's house. We were all supposed to dress up as people from history. I dressed up as Isadora Duncan, the mother of modern dance. Michael's brother made these amazing homemade pizzas and banana pudding with digestive crackers in it, a recipe he got from the magnolia bakery. We played crochet and then watched Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure (very appropriate, don't you think?) All together a very fun night.

Jemez Falls

We went camping Friday night at Jemez falls. It was just for one night with some friends from our ward, but we had a great time. I love camping and wish we could have stayed longer. One night is measly compared to the solid week at Bass. You just barely get the tent up and you are already taking it down again. Ruby loves sleeping in the tent and for the first time slept in her own sleeping bag. Family camping, there's nothing like it!

So, Sully loves horses, and Nanna is so proud. He makes the horse noise and wants to get on them, not just look at them. He acts like he knows what to do, and don't even think about helping him, he won't have it. He has turned into a little boy over night. Oh and by the way........... we are having another little dude. I think his favorite was the walrus and baluga whale exhibits. The weather was incredible, and we pick-nicked on the grass. It was perfect.

We have had a fun time watching the Robin's nest in our Cherry tree. Only one egg of three made it and I have really been pulling for the little guy. It must be a Momma thing. It's only been something like 2 weeks since he hatched and he is already out of the nest and looks like he will be flying within days. It has been an amazing process to watch. We enjoy our little yard and all of the nature it has to offer.

The New Mexico Life

Yesterday we went for a little hike along the Rio Grande. Not very grand, its a pretty weeny river where we were. Ruby is a great little hiker and Jeffrey David was a good sport to go along. It was pretty hot by the time we finished but we had a good time. This picture at the top I just included because I think he is totally adorable and want you all to see how cute he is. He is so fun and I am constantly kissing his gigantic cheeks.

Brand New Baby Life

Dave had to help me get on here to do this. I am apparently totally computer illiterate since leaving the college scene. Just wanted to get on here and say hello. Life with brand new baby is going good. I couldn't be more tired, 4 hours of solid sleep sounds heavenly, but I also couldn't be more happy. I have the best husband taking care of me, Ruby is adjusting well, Baby Jeffrey is nursing like a starving animal, and I am recovering quickly. We just can't believe he is already here. Last night Dave and I were watching TV and I was holding J. and I turned to Dave and said "where did this baby come from" It doesn't feel real yet. The new minivan does make it a little more real though. We actually have a minivan family now. Crazy! I love it though. Very nice. Dave finally gets to stop driving the "chick" car and have the Subaru outback. We are sad though that we won't get to see how far the corolla would have actually gone. It is a 1990 with 207,000 miles, but it just seems to keep going. We hope we have the same luck with the Toyota minivan. So that is just a little update on us. Love, Jennifer
